Power Loss Troubleshooting

Fast, systematic diagnosis and repair of partial or complete power outages in your home or business. We trace the problem from the service entrance to the final circuit.

When the Power Goes Out, We Find Out Why

A sudden loss of power is more than an inconvenience—it can signal a serious electrical fault that needs immediate attention. Whether you've lost power to a single room, an entire floor, or your whole property, MAZ Electrical Solutions provides methodical troubleshooting to identify and fix the root cause.

We don't guess. We test, trace, and verify every step of the way.

Common Causes We Diagnose

  • Tripped breakers or blown fuses – Often a symptom of overload or a short circuit downstream
  • Faulty outlets or switches – Loose connections, backstabbed wires, or internal failures
  • Damaged wiring – Rodent damage, staple punctures, or age-related insulation breakdown
  • Service entrance issues – Weatherhead damage, meter base faults, or utility-side problems
  • GFCI or AFCI nuisance tripping – Moisture intrusion, ground faults, or incompatible loads
  • Overloaded circuits – Too many devices on undersized wiring
  • Neutral or ground faults – Can cause intermittent power loss or voltage imbalances

Our Troubleshooting Process

We arrive with the tools and experience to isolate the fault quickly and safely.

1. Initial Assessment

We ask what happened before the outage, check your panel for obvious trips or damage, and verify whether the utility supply is intact.

2. Voltage & Continuity Testing

Using calibrated meters and testers, we measure voltage at the panel, subpanels, and affected circuits to pinpoint where power is lost.

3. Circuit Tracing

We follow the circuit from breaker to device, inspecting junction boxes, switches, and outlets for loose connections, burn marks, or failed components.

4. Load Testing

If the fault is intermittent, we may simulate normal loads to reproduce the failure and confirm the fix.

5. Repair & Verification

Once we've identified the problem, we make the repair—whether that's replacing a breaker, re-terminating a wire, or replacing a damaged cable—and verify full restoration of power.

Why Electrical Troubleshooting Matters

Ignoring a power loss can leave you in the dark—literally—and may indicate a hazard that could worsen over time. Arcing faults, loose neutrals, and overloaded circuits are fire risks. We treat every call with the urgency it deserves.

All work is performed to NEC standards and local code. If a permit is required for the repair, we pull it.

When to Call Us

  • Power is out to part or all of your home, and resetting breakers doesn't help
  • Breakers trip repeatedly when you turn them back on
  • You smell burning plastic or see scorch marks near outlets or the panel
  • Lights flicker or dim when certain appliances run
  • You've lost power after a storm, renovation, or after adding new equipment

We serve residential and commercial customers throughout New Jersey. If you've lost power and don't know why, we'll find the answer.

How it works
01

Contact Us

Describe the outage—what's affected, when it started, and any unusual events beforehand. We'll prioritize urgent calls.

02

On-Site Diagnosis

We test voltage, inspect the panel, and trace circuits to isolate the fault. You'll know what we're doing and why.

03

Repair & Restore

We make the necessary repair, verify power is restored safely, and confirm all protective devices are functioning.

04

Follow-Up Recommendations

If we find code violations or aging components that could fail next, we'll let you know—no pressure, just facts.

Common questions
How long does troubleshooting usually take?+

Simple issues like a tripped breaker or bad outlet can be resolved in under an hour. Complex faults—hidden shorts, intermittent problems, or damage inside walls—may take several hours to trace and repair.

What if the problem is on the utility side?+

We can tell you if the issue is before your meter. If it's the utility's responsibility, we'll guide you through reporting it and can coordinate with them if needed.

Will I need a permit for the repair?+

Most troubleshooting repairs—replacing a breaker, fixing a loose wire, swapping an outlet—don't require a permit. If the scope grows into panel work or new circuits, we'll pull the permit and schedule the inspection.
